A second issue with the downloaded textbooks is that you will have to whether download them to a laptop so that you can carry it with you or print out a copy of the download. With most textbooks being over 100 pages that could get costly with ink and paper.
What you legitimately need to worry about when getting free copies of textbooks is they could be a pirated version. The new laws in place are legitimately cracking down on this type of behavior. You legitimately don't want to get slapped with a fine that will cost more than legitimately buying a used version of the textbooks you need.
My idea on getting textbooks of the Internet is this. If the textbook companies would allow us to download the textbook, we could compromise by letting them run ad's. But the only time they ad would pop up is when you open the textbook or when you close it. It is pretty simple but they are always mental about how much money they can get college students to spend. I believe data and studying should be free.
